INTRODUCTION
|
ALLELON is a privately funded, 501C-3 non-profit operating ministry foundation
created in 1998 by Mark and Jeanette Priddy. Content is provided by leading thinkers
in the area of church life and the post-modern culture. We endeavour
to gain content from the wider international church community.
This statement sets out ALLELON 's policies relating to the collection
and use of your personal information. It applies to your conduct in
the community. Before disclosing your personal information
to any third party site that are linked with ALLELON you should read
their respective privacy policy and/or terms of service.

1. Your personal information
is important to us
|
ALLELON recognises that your
privacy is very important to you and thus you have the right to control
all information that pertains to you. We understand your willingness
to give out your personal information requires trust and that is extremely
important to us. Unless we are given explicit permission to do otherwise
all information given to ALLELON remains private and you have the choice
who that information is given to and how it is used.

2. ALLELON Membership
|
ALLELON has implemented a membership
system, designed to offer users a more rewarding and personalised
customer experience ("Membership"). To obtain the full benefits
of Membership, users are required to register with ALLELON and login
as members. However, even if you don't you sign up for Membership
or log onto the site you are still able to access some of the ALLELON content.

3. Collecting your personal
information

There are two main ways we collect information about you:
If you do not log in as a member
Whenever you visit the site, the servers automatically record non-personal
information about your usage the pages you visited and the time
spent viewing the site. This is to help us understand what interests
you and enables us to provide information that is most relevant
to you.
If you do not want us to retain any information at all, even in
an anonymous form, you can use the Preferences on your browser program
to remove all cookies and set the browser not to accept cookies
in the future.
If you log in as a member
Once you have become a Member, we collect personal information about
you in order to provide you with the full benefits of a Member.
When you first register we collect information from you directly
and also from time to time thereafter if you provide us additional
information.
Once you have logged on as a member, we keep a record of how you
use the Network. This helps us to build a profile of what interests
you, so that we can personalise your experience of the Network and
publish information that is directly relevant to your interests.

4. Preserving your privacy

Surveys show that most internet
users are concerned about their privacy, want to keep control of their
personal information, and do not trust many of the web sites which
they visit. In fact, research shows around a third of internet users
give false information online rather than saying who they really are.
Although we take seriously your privacy, we understand some people
do not feel comfortable disclosing the personal information on the
internet. If you don't want to disclose your real identity your can
use a pseudonym - or a different name. There for you can choose a
different name and that is what we will call you.
We will not know who you really are, but we will still be able to
find out what you like most on our site and therefore give you the
most enjoyable and customised experience possible.

5. Our use of cookies and
IP Addresses

Use of Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing
information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked
to any personally identifiable information while on our site. Cookies
are files that your Web browser places on your computer's hard drive
for record-keeping purposes. ALLELON creates and then uses these cookie
files to track your clicks as you go through the site. The use of
cookies is an industry standard and you will find them at most major
Web sites. The information we retrieve from the cookie files helps
us track user trends and patterns. We use the information from cookies
to provide services that better fit our users' needs.
Use of IP Addresses
ALLELON uses IP addresses to analyse trends, administer the site, track
user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate
use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information.
ALLELON uses internet analysis software that provides
information from across the community site and gives the following
information.
* The number of page views (or page impressions) that occur on the
site;
* The number of unique visitors to the site;
* How long these unique visitors (on average) spend on the site when
they do visit; and
* Common entry and exit points into the site.
This information is collated by and used to analyse the usage of the
site and provide non-personal information to enable the community
to grow and change.

6. Using and disclosing
your personal information

ALLELON will not use or disclose
any information about you without your consent, unless:
* Required by law.
* To implement our terms of use.
* To protect the rights or property of ALLELON , any ALLELON user, or any
member of the public.
* To lessen a serious threat to a person's health or safety.
We will not give any of your personal information to advertisers or
any other organisation without your express consent.

7. "Spam"
|
We will not send you "spam"
(advertising information) without first asking you whether you wish
to have promotional information sent to you. You have the option in
your account information to specify whether you would like to receive
correspondence from this site and also if you want to receive information
from third-party organisations or companies you can check and uncheck
these options at anytime.

8. Security of your personal
information
|
ALLELON takes every precaution
to protect our users' information. When users submit sensitive information
via the website, your information is protected both online and off-line.
When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive information
(such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is
protected with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL.
While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the
bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet
Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you
are just 'surfing'.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online,
we also do everything in our power to protect user-information off-line.
All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information
mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who
need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing
clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to
personally identifiable information. Furthermore, ALL employees are
kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Finally, the
servers that we store personally identifiable information on are kept
in a secure environment.

9. You can access the information
we keep about you
|
As indicated above in section
3, if you do not log on as a member, we do not collect information
that identifies you personally. If, however, you log on as a member,
you are able to access, change and update your Account Information
at any time. You can also create a profile that enables you to upload
information about yourself that others can view (this is optional
and is not required to enjoy all the benefits of the site).

10. Links to other websites
|
ALLELON provides links to third
party websites. These linked sites are not under the control of ALLELON ,
and we cannot accept responsibility for the conduct of any company
or group linked to our website. Before disclosing your personal information
on any other website, we advise you to examine the terms and conditions
of the respective sites.
